Win up to N1,000,000 at #KadHack2018

eHealth Africa is partnering with CoLab Innovation Hub and the Kaduna Bureau of Statistics to host a first of its kind hackathon – #KadHack2018 – with the theme: Developing Solutions for Sustainable Social Development; in Kaduna, Nigeria.

#KadHack2018 presents an opportunity for stakeholders in the technology sector to engage the Kaduna state government and gain firsthand insight into the challenges in the Education and Health sectors, in order to come up with software prototypes that could be further developed to solve problems within those sectors. The prototypes will be built leveraging on the data collected during phase one of the GRID3 project.

The hackathon is split into 2 categories – a 3-day  on-site hackathon, which will hold at the Kaduna ICT Hub, 47 Kanta Road, Kaduna, Nigeria from the 27th – 29th November 2018, and an online Hackathon for people outside the state, which will also close on the 29th of November, 2018.

The prize money for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd best prototypes will be N1,000,000, N750,000 and N500,000 respectively for the onsite hackathon, while the prizes for the online hackathon would be N500,000, N300,000 and N200,000 for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively.

Adam Thompson, Executive Director of eHealth Africa, notes that “for eHealth Africa, #KadHack2018 is a great way to engage the tech community in developing solutions that improve planning and decision making in for healthcare, education, and economic development projects in Kaduna State.  We’re excited to see what innovative solutions can be derived from the data systems that we’ve worked hard to put together”.

“Our main goal, has always been to help build a technology ecosystem in and around Kaduna to help solve some of the local challenges,” says Sanusi Ismaila, CEO of Colab. “#KadHack2018 presents a perfect platform to help move the needle in that regard, and who better to join forces with, than eHealth Africa, who has been solving the health problem using technology on an unprecedented scale.”

The hackathon is equal opportunity, but participants should be experienced with working with APIs. Interested participants can find more details and register to participate at https://bit.ly/kadhack2018. Registration ends on the 20th of November, 2018.
